I don’t even know where to start with this sweet session! I guess the very beginning is as good a place as any, which will be great for you, Dear Reader Friend, because there is a lot of history here! Michelle and I went to nursing school together at Liberty University in Lynchburg VA, where we struggled and succeeded through hours of clinicals, paper writing, studying, and Pharm tests. While we lived in the Burg together, her husband Mike deployed with the Army, and I admired how Michelle stood strong through months of being apart, loving him from the states and praying for his safety every day. During his deployment, she ended up needing to send him a new laptop, and she asked me if we could do a little session so she’d have some new photos to load onto it before she shipped it over…ummm YES PLEASE! These are a couple of my favorite images from that session, with my sweet little (now retired) logo on them!
Michelle finally got a date for Mike’s return to the states for R&R (16 March 2010), and asked if I would be there at our tiny Lynchburg airport when he got home. I could not have been more honored. Gosh, I remember being SO excited that they would finally be together again!!! (Don’t judge my tiltly, slightly-blurry, still-learning, 2010 style! 😉 )
Nine months later (12 December 2010), Michelle was in front of my camera again, this time getting commissioned into the Army herself! Again, I was incredibly honored to be there as a witness to such an amazing moment, and I remember being so very proud of my dear friend!
I’ve also had the honor of capturing several events in Michelle’s family, including her brother and sister-in-law’s maternity session (Hi Miles and Heather!), and her cousin’s engagement session and wedding (Candace and Ray, I’m so jealous that Alaska gets to have you!). I’m so thankful that her sweet family allowed me to be part of so many special days, and I love that she and I have such a unique photography history together…which makes this session even more meaningful to me!
Michelle was stationed in GA for quite a while, while her hubby lived in VA, waiting for her to complete her Army contract and move up to the home they’d purchased. In March, after recently leaving GA and wrapping up their house renovation projects, Michelle and Mike welcomed sweet baby Riley into their family! When I was back in Lynchburg last week, I got to visit with Michelle and her little bundle of cuteness, AND I had the honor of getting to take some four-month pictures of her, too!!! (First, pictures of her mama, and now her?? Photographer’s dream come true!!).
Oh gosh, these next three are just so.darn.cute.!!!
I’m not sure why, but I just LOVE that the focus in this one is on her tiny hands!
Michelle, thank you so very much for letting me come visit your BEAUTIFUL home (if y’all ever need an interior decorator, she’s your girl!), and for trusting me enough to let me capture a few photos of your Riley. I loved getting to catch up with you, and adding new photos to our Michelle+Jenny collection 😉 Can’t wait to do it again! <3
